I didn't start watching until the 2nd half cuz I was kinda busy, but hey atleast all the goals were in the 2nd half :P
I lost it when Sporting scored. I was like "WTF!! We are losing at HOME!!! :@@!!?!?!?@?" Then 2 mins later VdV saves me from throwing a fit. Then a few more mins later and Xabi scores!!! Higuain's goal was priceless, he taps the ball just past his last defenders' foot and drives a low lefty for the 3rd!!!!! I didn't watch the 1st half, but we did pretty good in the 2nd after Sporting Gijon scored. Ronaldo played a huge part in our attack as u said he helped in every goal somehow, and it's really too bad he didn't get a goal :(
@Dubya: Oh my god not the Franco B.S. again.....
FACT: Sunyol's death had nothing to do with being the president of Barca but all to do with being MP for the Esquerra Republicana, official reports say he was outside on the frontlines chanting "Viva la Republica" in front of nationalist forces -from FourFourTwo magazine Oct. '09 issue.
FACT: Yes, Franco started the Spanish FA, but someone was bound to start the FA and he just happened to be the one to do it. Either way he is dead and he has no influence on the calls being made today. Barcelona, on the other hand, have a fan who happens to be the president of Spain...
Just about all the talk of clubs getting the refs' help is complete B.S. whether it's about Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United or Chelsea (idk about Italian teams especially after the calcipoli scandal...) If it was proven right that Real had Franco's help with ref calls and such, then FIFA/UEFA could just easily at this moment strip Real of their rigged titles, but have they? No, and it's because they didn't have that help. That CL semi-final last year was very fishy, but then again FIFA/UEFA could have stripped Barca of that title IF it was true, but I guess that was just bad on the ref's part.
@Dubya: Are you seriously comparing the pres. of Spain to the pres. of the Spanish FA? One can easily cost the other his job if he abused his power. Ok, let's just pretend that Real Madrid did have Franco's help. How did Franco interfere with the European Champions League? Common sense shows the President/dictator of a nation can't control the European league or the refs there, and Real got Di Stefano because Barca screwed themselves over by dealing with the wrong club for him, so how did Franco help with those 5 CL titles? He didn't, so chances are Real Madrid was just that good enough on it's own to dominate La Liga too...
Yes, Franco was evil and Franco's forces killed Sunyol, but you've got to understand that those forces just killed anyone on-sight who opposed him. The troop(s) that killed him had killed him the way they probably would have killed anyone else, not because they knew who he was or any of that but because of what he had done: chanted out loud against Franco in the public right in front nationalist forces.
@Dubya: President, Prime Minister, whatever, the leader of Spain is still a Barcelona fan.....but LMAOOOOO! Maybe I misunderstood you, but do you actually believe Franco somehow rigged the Champions League for Real Madrid?!? Please, tell me! FIFA authorized a trade to a club who did NOT have the rights to Di Stefano, whereas the Spanish FA did notice this. Alfredo Di Stefano left Millionarios without their consent, but Barcelona sought out a deal with River Plate. FIFA also believed that River Plate held Di Stefano's rights, but they did NOT know that he'd left without permission from Millionarios who still had his rights. Los Millionarios reported this to FIFA so FIFA left it to the hands of the Spanish FA to sort it out. In order to get Di Stefano Barca or Madrid had to deal with BOTH River Plate and los Millionarios. In the end, Real Madrid got Di Stefano for 2 reasons:
1. Santiago Bernabeu convinced him (No, Di Stefano was not threatened by Bernabeu or else he wouldn't be Real Madrid's honorary president today...)
2. The idea of Barca and Real sharing Di Stefano for 2-3 seasons each basically started a riot on the inside of Barca, which was so bad that it caused Barca's pres. at the time to resign. (in other words, Barca fell apart.)
Even if Real Madrid didn't have Di Stefano, they were more than likely to win those 5 consecutive CL's and many La Liga titles because 1 player doesn't make an entire team AND Franc Puskas would have still dominated anyways. And Sunyol was NOT sought out to be executed, he was outside shouting "Viva la Republica!" in the country of a fascist government, who national forces killed on sight. Let me guess, you heard that on some biased pro-Barca or Anti-Madrid site, right? Even Before Franco came, Barca was crap. It wasn't until Franco ruled Spain that Barca started to win anything. Yeah, they won the 1st La Liga title, but that was the ONLY title they had before Franco, whereas Real Madrid won La Liga twice before Franco had ruled over Spain. IF Franco supported any team (he didn't even like football...) it was Atletico Madrid, which at the time was Atletico Aviacion, a club from Franco's supposedly "beloved" Madrid which was founded by the Spanish air force under FRANCO'S CONTROL. But even history shows that they weren't all that great. A dictator of Spain would have more important things to do anyways than to rig a football league.
