Usually the host country (Germany) has a strong chance of winning! Their country is supporting them, they train hard, and they want to bring their country glory. In the 2002 final Brazil beat Germany 2-0. Now Brazil's team is even stronger than before. I know they will win the World Cup in 2006!

Brazil has the best chance of winning, but anything could happen between now to the finals so nothing is definite. However recent performance shows that European teams might find it too tough a task to catch the Brazilian because they r playing totally different football. Brazilians PLAY football, while the others KICK football. Despite the above comments, I would prefer another team to win it rather than Brazil. My personal favorites are Netherlands, Italy and England (in that order), but honestly I think it would be quite difficult to pry the Cup from the Brazilians. Nevertheless it is all this uncertainty that makes the game exciting. Don't you think so?

Brazil has a great chance at winning this world cup ; but the person who said that no south american ever won it away from south america aside from last time in japan coreais wrong; In 1958 played in Sweden brazil won it; beating the hosts sweden 5-2 in the final. Pele was 17 years old and scored 2 beautiful goals.

Of Course, Brazil would win the World Cup if they play as they have played before in 1994 and 2002 FIFA World Cup.
2006-04-20 14:05:55 UTC
Well to make a long story short. They very well have the player power to do so. They have been part in the finals in the last 3 World Cups so to say no, is wrong. We will just have to see if there are any other countries that can give them a run for their money. Very possible however. Some great players and teams this year.

The last time a South American team has won on European soil was 1958 in Sweden, Brazil against Sweden.

There is something of a mystique about that statistic and I dont think it will change in this World Cup.

Brazil is expected to win their Group F and meet up with Italy, Czech Republic or poissibly the US in the first round of knock-out. That may or may not be a tough match pending on who places 2nd in Group E. Next game, if they win, would be against France or Spain. Both expected to do well. If they win that, the semifinal brings either Germany, Argentina, or the Netherlands.

My prediction is that Brazil will lose in that game.

Brazil always have a good chance of winning, no matter where the World Cup take place

No I don't think Brazil will win the World Cup. In fact, I think that all the big teams will not do well this year. I feel Serbia and Montenegro or Croatia have a better chance of winning.

Well, it's curious, there's this saying "Europe for Europeans, America for Americans" Because when a world cup is played at an european country, it has always been an european country (not always the host) who wins. And when the world cup is played at an american country, always an american country wins (Brazil, Argentina and Urugay have been the only american countries who have won a world cup.... but unly when it's played in America)

Brazil has been the only team that has won a world cup in another continent , ASIA(Korea-japan 2002), but that was the 1st world cup played outside of Europe or America and Asian teams are not as good as european and american teams

I will have to correct what someone said here. Brazil is the only team to have won twice outside of the Americas. In Sweeden in 1958 and in Japan/Korea in 2002. So, if someone can do it its them. If Germany had at least a decent team, it would almost be impossible to beat them in their own country. However, this is a very weak Germany and anything can happen.

The real problem is that Brazil is the favorite. Everytime they are the favorite they fall. So, my bet goes to Portugal (as improbable as this may sound).

Brazil, once again, has the potential to bring the cup home once again. However, they need to restructure their attack to allow players like Ronaldihno and Kaka do their job. My only concern is the strikers. Ronaldo, Adriano and Robihno are not playing at their top of their game right; but we all now that a similar scenario occurred in the last world cup, and they ended up kicking some serious BUTT! - They are definitely one of the favorites but beware of Italy, England, Germany and Holland

NO though I agree that Brazil has top players & I also agree with Skools saying about host country has a strong chance of winning. In 2002 we saw both Brazil & Germany in the final...are we gon see them again - possibly! Don't forget about other teams too, they'll be working hard & fun playing for the games! After all - isn't it fun watching football?!

Brazil has a 50% chance of winning and a Europe country has a 50% chance of winning but i think that Brazil will win

No. Brazil has enough quality players to field three teams in the tournament, yet it is very difficult for a South American team to win in Europe. Lastly they have been in the last three finals going 2-1

Yes. Brazil not only has the best team but is also the only team who has won the Cup in Europe(58),Americas and Asia

I think so.Because it has a good players stars who shine in different leages in Europe like La liga in Spain,Primier in England,Serie A in Italy and Bundesiliga of Germany.

Therefore we expect that Brasil may win again this time the world cup final this year which will be held in Germany from June to July although has won once that trophy in Europe.

Yes, Brazil is a great team with a very good coach.

They are the number one in the world.

i don't think so. everytime they had brasil as a favorite, they seem to lose the world cup, as an example the spain 82, france 98, and even brasil 50. One problem is they have too many people to create- kaka, ronaldinho, etc. and ronaldo, adriano, robihno, one is the odd man out. Dida has been shaky in italy and needs to step it up emerson, cafu , and roberto carlos are over 30, and usually play over 50 games a yr with league, cup, and/or champions league. It happen with france 4 yrs. ago it might happen to brasil this year.

no non-european team has ever won a world cup played in europe. said differently, every world cup held in europe has been won by a european team. Your best bet on which team will win the world cup is italy, but you can never really count out the host nation, in this case, germany.

No Brasil doesnt have a strong team like they had years ago. I think Portugal will win the World Cup
2006-04-20 15:09:50 UTC
It's very possible. With Ronaldo and Adriano on the attack and on the midfield Ronaldinho and Kaka, you can bet that they will get very far. Each player is the star of its own team so you can expect Brazil to do a good role.
2006-04-20 15:19:47 UTC
No and i'll tell u exactly where they are gonna lose the u.s. will finish second only because of goals against and will shock the world by beating brazil on their way to a third place finish

I think that Brazil have the strongest team that they have ever had and they are favorites to win it but Argentina, Germany, England and ITALY will be wanting to stop them. In my opinion: THE FINAL WILL BE

ITALY - BRAZIL

Italy wins in the final.

I believe they will, they are the favorites and they won every single major tournaments since 2002. But history does tell us that only once a non-european team has won in European soil (Brazil). Hard, but very possible.

2006-04-20 12:39:48 UTC
Yes, they do have strong players, Ronaldino is doing very good and we still have Ronaldo that is a dangerous player. So, yes I do think that Brazil will win.
2006-04-20 05:30:26 UTC
Yes but I don't want them to make it out of the Round of 16, somebody else should win like Portugal or England.

2006-04-20 12:28:50 UTC
I don't think so.Brazil is not as a complete team as in the past, goaltending is questionable. I believe the FINAL will match MEXICO vs. DEUTSCHLAND,with MEXICO being crowned 2-1 on a header by Jared Borgetti. Long live the CONCACAF.

Reluctantly they have got to be the odds on favorite, their defense can easily be exploited but the magic they create with the ball upfront will no doubt make up for any defensive short comings, i would love to see some underdog team beat them or at least tie. go netherlands ..... RUUUUUUUD
